About the artwork
In Velato, Parisi depicts a human-like face which has been constructed by revealing elements of a person with geometric cutouts. The partial face looks at the viewer, but due to the strategically placed removals, it is up to each person to decide what the figure's expression would be if the entire face could be seen.
Vinicius Parisi “Velato” was one of the 18 artworks displayed in July and August of 2020 at the “DriveThru.Art” exhibition which took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The concept was that people were able to look at artwork from their cars which allowed them to safely avoid contracting the virus. This event was publicised in major media throughout the world, organized by Luis Maluf Art Gallery.
